Removing Sand from the Lining of Your Swimwear

Removing Sand from the Lining of Your Swimwear

Picture this: you've just spent a delightful day at the beach, basking in the sun and enjoying the refreshing waves. As you get ready to leave, you notice the persistent presence of sand stuck to the lining of your swimwear. It's a common scenario, but fear not! In this article, we'll provide you with ways to remove sand from the lining of your swimwear.  Shake It Out The simplest and most immediate way to get rid of sand from your swimwear is by giving it a good shake. Hold your swimsuit by the waistband or straps and vigorously shake it. This will dislodge a significant amount of loose sand, making it easier to remove the rest. Rinse Thoroughly Head over to a shower or hose (if available) and rinse your swimwear thoroughly with fresh, cold water. Use your fingers to rub the lining gently, which will help dislodge more sand. Avoid using hot water, as it can cause the sand to stick more stubbornly. Patience and Patting For those persistent grains that seem glued to your swimwear, patience is key. Lay your swimwear flat and allow it to air dry for a while. Once the fabric is mostly dry, gently pat the lining to loosen any remaining sand. You'll find that sand is much easier to remove when the fabric is dry rather than wet. Brush It Off A soft-bristle brush or an old toothbrush can be your secret weapon against stubborn sand. Hold your swimwear taut and use the brush to gently sweep the sand away from the lining. Be cautious not to brush too vigorously to prevent damaging the fabric. Shake Again Give your swimwear another good shake after using the brush to remove the loosened sand particles. This will help ensure that all the dislodged sand is expelled from the fabric. Use Baby Powder Baby powder can be surprisingly effective in helping to remove sand from swimwear. Sprinkle a generous amount of baby powder onto the lining, and then gently shake or pat the swimwear. The baby powder acts as a fine abrasive that can help dislodge the sand particles. Use a Blowdryer or Vacuum Cleaner Get a blow dryer and set it to the highest setting. Hold the blow dryer about six inches away from your swimsuit and move it around. Avoid the heat setting as this may damage the fabric.   If removing all the sand is still difficult, try using a vacuum cleaner with the hose attachment. Just hold the hose against your suit and turn on the vacuum and suck the sand off the fabric. This is a last resort, as the strong suction can damage the elasticity of the fabric if done for too long, or too often. Prevention Is Key Lastly, remember that prevention is always the best strategy. When heading to the beach, bring along a small towel to sit on, which can help minimise the amount of sand that comes into contact with your swimwear. Additionally, try to avoid sitting directly on sandy surfaces and consider using a beach chair or mat. Removing sand from the lining of your swimwear may seem like a tricky task, but with these effective techniques and a little patience, you can keep your beach days enjoyable and hassle-free. Whether it's shaking, rinsing, patting, brushing, or using baby powder, these methods will ensure your swimwear stays sand-free, allowing you to focus on the fun and relaxation the beach has to offer.

How to Keep Your White Bikini Clean

How to Keep Your White Bikini Clean

White swimwear exudes a timeless elegance that never goes out of style. However, maintaining the pristine whiteness of your swimsuits can be quite challenging, as they are constantly exposed to sun, saltwater, chlorine, and sand. Fortunately, with some simple care and precautions, you can keep your white swimwear looking as fresh and clean as the day you bought it. In this article, we will provide you with valuable tips on how to maintain the cleanliness and brilliance of your white swimwear. Choose High-Quality Fabric The first step in keeping your white swimwear clean begins with the selection of the right fabric. Opt for high-quality swimsuits made from durable materials like nylon, polyester, or a blend of both. These materials are not only resistant to chlorine and saltwater but also more likely to retain their colour and shape over time, making it easier to keep them clean. LOU Swim is proud to use quality fabrics that are durable and sustainable. Rinse Immediately after Use After a refreshing swim, rinse your white swimwear thoroughly with fresh, cold water as soon as possible. This step helps remove any residual salt, chlorine, or sand, which can cause discoloration and damage if left unattended. Avoid using hot water, as it can set stains, fade the fabric and damage the elasticity of the fabric. Hand Wash with Mild Detergent To clean your white swimwear, opt for gentle hand washing instead of machine washing. Use a mild detergent specifically designed for delicates or swimwear. Avoid harsh detergents or bleach, as they can weaken the fabric and cause yellowing. Gently agitate the water and let the swimwear soak for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly. Avoid Wringing or Twisting Never wring or twist your white swimwear to remove excess water. Instead, gently press the water out by pressing the swimwear between clean, dry towels. Excessive wringing can stretch the fabric and cause it to lose its shape. Dry in the Shade Direct sunlight can be harmful to white swimwear, causing it to fade and lose its brightness over time. Therefore, always dry your swimwear in the shade or indoors. Lay it flat on a clean towel or a drying rack to avoid stretching and maintain its shape. Avoid hanging it by the straps, as this can lead to stretching. Be Cautious with Sunscreen Sunscreen is essential for protecting your skin, but it can leave stubborn stains on your white swimwear. To prevent this, apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before putting on your swimsuit to allow it to fully absorb. Additionally, choose a water-resistant sunscreen to minimise the chances of transfer.   Rotate Your Swimwear If you frequently wear white swimwear, consider rotating between multiple pieces. This allows each swimsuit to have more time to dry completely and recover its original shape between uses, reducing wear and tear. Address Stains Promptly Accidents happen, and if you find a stain on your white swimwear, act quickly. Blot the stain gently with a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb any excess substance. In most cases, soaking the stained area in cold water with a mixture of mild detergent can help lift the stain. For tougher stains, you may consider using a stain remover specifically designed for delicate fabrics. Remember to avoid using bleach on your white swimsuit, as it can weaken the fabric and cause yellowing. After treating the stain, rinse the swimsuit thoroughly with cold water and then hand wash it gently. Finally, allow the swimsuit to air dry in the shade to preserve its pristine white appearance. Maintaining the cleanliness and pristine appearance of your white swimwear is not a daunting task with the right care and attention. By choosing quality fabrics, rinsing after use, hand washing with care, and following these tips, you can ensure that your white swimwear remains fresh and brilliant for many seasons to come. With proper maintenance, your white swimsuit will continue to exude elegance and sophistication every time you hit the beach or pool.

10 Reasons Why We Should Love & Embrace our Small Boobs

If you’re a part of the itty bitty titty committee (IBTC) like me, embrace it! I understand how difficult it can be to feel fully confident in your skin, so I’m sharing 10 reasons why you should embrace and love your little boobies.  1. Your little boobs do not define you, beautiful Say it with me loud and clear: sexy is not defined by the size of your boobs. You’re beautiful just as you are because nobody else is you! 2. Wearing a bra is often optional for itty bitty titties Little boobies make for big perks, one of them being their perkiness. A lot of people revel in your small boobs being able to defy gravity in all those crop tops. Celebrate that. When you don’t feel like wearing a bra, clothing such as bralettes, tube tops, and crop tops are some of the most flattering tops. And of course, anything with small boobie cleavage! That’s a good way to make some steam, hottie! 3. Problems as little as your boobs It’s not surprising how many women get breast reductions because of chronic back pain. Our boobs will never cause us back pain, so let’s be grateful for one less problem to worry about. 4. Working out with smaller boobs is just easier Another problem we don’t have to worry about is having difficulty working out in our sports bras with our boobs as MVPs. And boob sweat? Don’t know her. Can’t say you still won’t get unwarranted attention at the gym though - that’s going to happen regardless because small boobs are hot AF! 5. Small boob cleavage is hella SEXY  Um, don’t you realise how big of a sex appeal this is? Especially with some classy side boob and an open back. The fact that you can slip on a dress without needing a bra is already sexy as hell, so keep your head up high, darling. Strut confidently! 6. You won’t hurt yourself in your sleep I don’t know about you, but being able to sleep on my belly is so much more comfortable with smaller breasts that don’t get in the way. They’ll stay in place too - I’m telling you: small boob problems just don’t exist. 7. Small boobs come with a big heart We’ve dealt with a lot of negativity from society. Most of us have felt so flawed for our boobies at one point or another, so we understand what feeling worthless is like. But when you transform that negative energy into self-love, you glow so bright and inspire others to do the same. 8. Small boobs are extra sensitive Shh! you didn’t hear it from me, but our boobies are definitely more sensitive during sex. 24% more sensitive to be exact. Take advantage of that, sis, take advantage... 9. The more you embrace them, the sexier you are! When you feel confident and truly in love with yourself, nobody else’s opinion can affect you. Be unapologetically sexy, because that’s what you are if that’s how you feel. End of story! 10. And because brands like LOU Swim care about the IBTC If you want real-life proof that small boobs are very flattering, LOU Swim bikinis and swimsuits are designed specifically for all my AA - B cup babes and will leave you feeling extra sexy in your natural skin. When you slip one on, you will not be able to deny how good you look, so don’t even try. With zero awkward cup gapping, these swimsuits hug your body the way it deserves. It's long overdue if you ask me! Check out our Instagram @lou.swim and be a part of our empowered IBTC community. We’d love to have you! ❤️

Why Sustainable Swimwear is the Sexy Trend We Need

Sustainable swimwear has been an ever-growing hot topic, but why not make it a life-long trend? A lot of bikinis you’ve worn in life have been more toxic than you might realise. If you haven’t already, it’s time to break up with fast fashion and move onto sexy sustainable swimwear - for good. When we talk about sustainable swimwear, we talking about:  Embracing eco-friendly, high quality slow fashion Supporting a more sustainable process that reduces the carbon footprint of swimwear production and protects our environments from plastic waste. Why is sustainability important? In a world filled with too much plastic and CO2, our aquatic environments are certainly under threat. So how could we possibly enjoy our beaches without supporting them in some way? By removing plastic bottles from our waters and turning them into a high quality fabric for swimwear, we are able to reuse and reduce our plastic waste.   However, it is important to know that sustainable swimwear made from recycled plastic does not mean microfibres won't still be released into our environment when washed. But also don't be alarmed by the term 'plastic' in 'recycled plastic' and think that it will release more microplastics than your average bikini. We recommend that you handwash your swimwear (which is also better for the longevity of the swimwear) and if you do use a washing machine, to use a microfibre catching laundry bag. These are ways you can help reduce the release of these harmful microfibres into our waters.   Why is sustainable slow fashion a better option than fast fashion?  It’s not even just about the environment: sustainable brands recognise that durable, high-quality clothes made under ethical working conditions are the best way to embrace fashion. Slow fashion refers to brands that release limited styles with just a few collections a year. They are more concerned with providing quality styles that will make you look and feel your best for a longer amount of time. Fast fashion brands strive to mass produce the most collections in just a short amount of time, resorting to poor working conditions, cheap materials, and harmful production. They also use an excess of repetitive collections and deals as marketing opportunities. If you’ve fallen victim to fast fashion marketing tactics, we get it. The first step is recognizing it, right? You DON’T need these repetitive year-by-year trends created by unethical brands. Embrace your unique self with limited styles that you simply love, without the pressure of all the deals and “must-have” trends that fast fashion companies push. Embrace sexy, sustainable bikinis When you throw on an eco-friendly swimsuit, it’s just a whole other feeling. Not only will you find it's better quality and a bikini that will truly last you, but eco-friendly brands also always have the most unique styles to choose from too, no matter how limited collections may be. The best part is you can take a swim knowing full-well that your shopping habits are supporting our planet’s livelihood. What about sustainable bikini options for smaller boobs? If your boobs are anywhere from AA to B, I’m sure regular bikinis are already an uphill battle for you. But don’t worry, doll! You can still easily make the switch to sustainability. As a proud member of the itty bitty titty committee (IBTC), who cares deeply about ethical fashion, I created LOU Swim for all the sexy ladies out there who want to feel more confident in bikinis. LOU Swim styles are not only 100% sustainably made from REPREVE® (a high-quality fabric recycled from plastics), they are also especially designed for my IBTC.
